The core of what we do...

Your airport or ours...your plane or our leasebacks...our world class aviators

IFR Training

Accelerated IFR

Our "accelerated" IFR program is perfect for the pilot who responds well to an immersive learning experience. We refrain from placing a time-period in this program as the ability to work with the pilot within their preferences and parameters is the real key to success.  Typically, the IR student who shows up having completed a ground school, passed the written, and possesses a working IFR procedural knowledge - will be endorsed and ready to take their IR checkride within 7-12 "flying days".   You’ll have an experienced CFI-I dedicated exclusively to you. Your instructor will provide structured, one-on-one training with a focus on developing real-world IFR training and results.  The day is typically divided between ground, simulator and the aircraft.  A special effort is made to expose our students to as much "actual" (IMC) as possible.  As our mentors echo in our ears "Flying in actual - there is no substitute..."

The IFR course is geared to both the private owner and savvy rental pilot.  We can also utilize an X-plane SIM Garmin 530/430 Basic Aviation Training Device (BATD), Diamond DA40 (G1000) and a C172s (G5's/G430WaaS) as needed.  Regardless of the plane you wind up in - we guide you through the entire process.

PROGRAM COSTS:

Instruction (ground/air/sim) up to 35 hours: $125-$150/hour

Instruction (ground/air/sim) beyond 35 hours: $105/hour

C172s (IFR Cert/wet/insured): $220/hour (limited)

DA40 (IFR Cert (G1000)/wet/insured): $255/hour (limited)

"Typically, you are going to spend total $7k-10k to do this in your own airplane, $12K in the C172 & $15K in the DA 40"

  • Successfully passed FAA Instrument Knowledge test
  • 40 hours PIC cross-country time

New Aircraft Checkout

So, you have purchased a new-to-you aircraft, it has been ferried to its new home or you have flown it home yourself with the help of a friendly ferry pilot/instructor. You are excited, enthusiastic, safety conscious and very aware that incidents/accidents involving new owners is a very real thing ( Aviation Results (ntsb.gov).  You want to-do things right.  Now what?  Typically, insurance requirements are more stringent than what the FAA regulations require to act as PIC in your new bird so that's a good thing.   However, a common mistake new owners make is assuming that any CFI with a few hours in the right seat of your make & model is proficient enough to make you safe.

At Vne we take this task seriously.  We are not all-things-to-all pilots but do have extensive experience in many different types.  Below is a sampling. of our experience:
